چکیده

We study timely status updates of a real-time system in an adversarial setting. The system samples a physical process, and sends the samples from the source (e.g., a sensor) to the destination (e.g, a control center) through a channel. For realtime monitoring/control tasks, it is crucial for the system to update the status of the physical process “timely”. We measure the timeliness of status updates by the time elapsed since the latest update at the destination was generated at the source, and define the time elapsed as age of information, or age in short. To sabotage the system, an attacker aims to maximize the age by jamming the channel and hence causing delay in status updates. The system aims to minimize the age by judiciously choosing when to sample and send the updates. We model the ongoing repeated interaction between the attacker and the system as a dynamic game. In each stage game, the attacker chooses the jamming time according to the jamming time distribution, and the system responds by delaying the sampling according to the sampling policy. We prove that there exists a unique stationary equilibrium in the game, and provide a complete analytical characterization of the equilibrium. Our results shed lights on how the attacker sabotages the system and how the system should defend against the attacker.

Two-dimensional Anti-jamming Mobile Communication Based on Reinforcement Learning

By using smart radio devices, a jammer can dynamically change its jamming policy based on opposing security mechanisms; it can even induce the mobile device to enter a specific communication mode and then launch the jamming policy accordingly. On the other hand, mobile devices can exploit spread spectrum and user mobility to address both jamming and interference. In this paper, a two-dimensiona...

Analysis of an on-off jamming situation as a dynamic game

The process of communication jamming can be modeled as a two-person zero-sum noncooperative dynamic game played between a communicator (a transmitter-receiver pair) and a jammer. We consider a one-way time-slotted packet radio communication link in the presence of a jammer, where the data rate is fixed and 1) in each slot, the communicator and jammer choose their respective power levels in a ra...

A Game-theoretical Analysis of Intelligent Cognitive Radio Jamming

Cognitive Radio promises to be a solution for the spectrum underutilization problems. However, security issues pertaining to Cognitive Radio technology are still an understudied topic. One of the prevailing such issues are intelligent radio frequency jamming attacks, where adversaries are able to exploit on-the-fly reconfigurability potentials and learning mechanisms of Cognitive Radios in orde...

Multi-Pursuer Multi-Evader Pursuit-Evasion Games with Jamming Confrontation

Existing pursuer-evader (PE) game algorithms do not provide good real-time solutions for situations with the following complexities: (1) multi-pursuer multi-evader, (2) multiple evaders with superior control resources such as higher speeds, and (3) jamming confrontation between pursuers and evaders. This paper introduces a real-time decentralized approach, in which decentralization strategy red...
